Michael Longfellow played a talk show host who welcomed parents played by Heidi Gardner, Mikey Day and Kenan Thompson. Longfellow remarked that it’s been a worrisome time on university campuses throughout the country, and sought comment from his guests. While Gardner and Day’s characters expressed concerns about their children’s activities in the protests against Israel’s war against Hamas, Thompson said he was supportive of the efforts. At Columbia University on Tuesday, dozens of protesters entered the university’s Hamilton Hall and barricaded themselves inside before the institution asked for the New York City Police Department’s assistance. A total of 282 people were arrested at the pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia as well as The City College of New York, according to the NYPD.

CNN —“Saturday Night Live” started with a take on the State of the Union this weekend, along with a response from a surprise guest. Scarlett Johansson – otherwise known as Mrs. Colin Jost – made a cameo appearance during the show’s cold open, playing Alabama Sen. Katie Britt in her much-talked about GOP rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday. With one hand firmly raised, Johansson dressed as Britt called out Biden’s “performative” qualities (while fervently denying any performance of her own), delivering her remarks from her kitchen. ”You see, I’m not just a mother,” Johansson said. Ahead of Johansson’s sendup, Mikey Day reprised his role of Biden at the podium for his address, where he told Punkie Johnson – playing Vice President Kamala Harris – that he hoped she “didn’t skip leg day,” before she sat, then stood, sat, then stood throughout his address.

We knew the tale of Gloucester hero Howard Blackburn, who rowed his dory to Newfoundland in an 1883 storm, his hands frozen to the oars.

(CNN) "Saturday Night Live" has added four new faces. Joining the cast as featured players in Season 48 are: Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker. Hernandez is a Cuban/Dominican stand up comedian, writer, and actor who has opened for comedians like Jim Breuer and Gilbert Gottfried, according to his official website. Kearney, who uses they/them pronouns, recently had a part in Amazon Prime Video's "A League of Their Own" TV series, according to IMDB. Longfellow, who hails from Phoenix, was recently featured in the "Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival," as a notable up-and-comer.
